Thread Lift

At Revita Skin Clinic our highly experienced cosmetic doctor performs Thread Lift treatments.

Do you want to look younger, but don’t want to go through surgery? A thread lift might be the perfect solution for you. This minimally invasive procedure uses threads to lift and tighten the skin. We will discuss everything you need to know about thread lifts. We will talk about the benefits, the risks, and the recovery process.

What is thread lift?

A thread lift is a procedure that uses a dissolvable suture to tighten and lift your skin. It’s a less invasive procedure than facelift surgery and can often be performed in approximately an hour without needing to go under a scalpel.

What are PDO threads?

PDO threads are the oldest type of suture used in PDO thread lifting. Polydioxanone (PDO) thread lifts use a biodegradable polyester suture. They’re made from materials that dissolves in the body after about 3 months.

The presence of these sutures in your skin stimulates cells in your body to produce more collagen. Collagen gives your skin its structure and elasticity. When you lose collagen, your skin loses its firmness and becomes wrinkled and aged. PDOs are the best choice for threading face lifts because they provide excellent support and very safe.

PDO threads come in 3 different varieties:

  • PDO mono threads. Smooth threads that stimulate collagen production.
  • PDO lifting threads. Threads with barbs that hold your skin together and lifts up the sagging part of your skin.
  • PDO screws Screw threads are similar to Mono but produce more collagen.
  • PDO multi stand threads add volume to sunken areas of the skin.
  • PDO nose lift threads are used to augment and reshape the nose.

What Areas Can Be Improved with A PDO Thread Lift?

While the face is usually the primary target area for this type of treatment, we also use mono threads in the neck in order to stimulate collagen production and achieve desired tightening effects.

Advantages of PDO thread lift

Thread lift is minimally invasive

One of the main benefits of a threading face lift is that it is a minimally invasive procedure. This means that there is no scarring and minimum downtime compared to other types of cosmetic surgery. Thread lifts can be used to treat sagging skin on the face and neck. They can also be used to improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

PDO Thread lift is affordable

Another benefit of thread lifts is that they are a relatively affordable option. The cost of a thread face lift is typically much less than the cost of a traditional facelift. Additionally, thread lifts can be performed in an outpatient setting, which further reduces the cost.

Recovery is faster

The recovery process for a face and neck thread lift is usually very short. Most people report minimal discomfort and swelling and bruising after the procedure. You will likely be able to return to your regular activities within a few days.

If you are considering a threading face lift, make sure to consult with our experienced cosmetic physician in Cheltenham. They will be able to answer any questions you have and help you decide if this procedure is right for you.

There are some risks associated with thread lifts, as with any type of surgery. These risks include infection, bruising, and swelling. However, these risks are typically minor and can be easily managed by your doctor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the threads dissolve?

The threads dissolve into your tissue and become part of your face or neck over time. If the positioning isn’t right or there is a rare adverse reaction, you can pop back into the clinic, and we can adjust or remove the threads without issue, especially non-biodegradable types.

What kind of results can I expect from a thread lift?

Depending on the skin tightening treatments we use, you can see up to 1cm to 2cm lift with a standard thread lift. The amount your skin will ‘lift’ is determined by how elasticity it has. If you have a lot of wrinkles and sagging, the results won’t be as impressive. Everyone is different though, so results may vary.

How long is the procedure?

The average face thread lift appointment takes approximately one hour. The actual procedure of inserting the threads will take between 30-45 minutes. Once the treatment is completed, you may experience some swelling and redness, so be sure to plan your day accordingly.

How long will a thread lift last?

Your results should maintain for approximately one to two years; however, we generally like to see our patients before then for other aspects of their anti-ageing strategy. If you do not come in before the treatment starts to lose its effect, make an appointment so that we can devise the best possible plan moving forward.

Several factors play into how long the threads last, including:

-The type of threads used (less invasive ones don’t tend to last as long, but there are also less side effects and downtime)

Lifestyle choices (a person who engages in age facilitating activities will age faster than others. This includes stressors like smoking, poor diet, lack of sleep, etc.)

-General health (chronic and inflammatory conditions can cause a person to age faster because they lead to less collagen stimulation by PDO threads)

-Genetics

Face Thread lift has a cumulative effect, similar to that of fillers and other cosmetic procedures. The more that is done, the more lift the doctor can achieve with a smaller amount of collagen.

Is PDO thread Lift for face a safe cosmetic treatment?

Thread lifts have been used in medicine for over 30 years, primarily for surgical purposes. In the last 10 years or so, their use has become more widespread in the cosmetic industry as people increasingly look for minimally-invasive solutions to ageing. One of the reasons they are so popular is that they offer a much safer alternative to surgery, with a shorter recovery time and minimal side effects.

What are the risks of PDO thread Lift?

There is always a risk of infection when having any foreign body inserted into the skin. The threads will dissolve over time, but if there is an infection, they may need to be removed sooner. There is also a small risk of bruising, swelling and discomfort after the procedure. These usually subside within a week

Is a face or neck thread lift treatment painful?

The face is numbed with a local anesthetic before the threads are inserted, so the procedure is generally not painful. You may feel some tugging and pulling as the threads are being inserted, but this should not be too uncomfortable.

How long does it take for the PDO threads to dissolve?

The threads will start to dissolve within 3-4 months, but the collagen stimulation will continue for up to 9-12 months. The effects of the treatment will usually last for 1-2 years.

What is the recovery time?

You will be able to leave the skin clinic immediately after the procedure, but we recommend that you take it easy for the rest of the day and avoid strenuous activity.
