PRP Injections

Platelet rich plasma therapy can be used as a stand alone therapy or in conjunction with other treatments.

Blood itself is mainly liquid but it also contains small components, which are solid such as platelets. Platelets play an important role in building new collagen, promoting cell growth and forming capillaries healing injuries due to proteins called growth factors, which are contained within the platelets.

PRP treatments begin with the patient’s blood being drawn by one of our medical practitioners into a test tube. The platelets are removed from the other blood cells with their concentration being increased due to centrifugation.  It is this concentration of platelets, which is combined with remaining blood.  One of our highly skilled professionals will then proceed to inject the platelets into the area of concern. There, the now activated platelets will release growth factors and start the healing process.

Can be used to used to treat:

  • Hair loss ( has the ability to stimulate new hair growth)
  • Soft tissue muscular injuries i.e. hamstring issues
  • Tendon issues i.e. tennis elbow
  • For management of osteoarthritis

PRP can also be used as a cosmetic treatment to treat skin concerns. PRP is more commonly referred to as the vampire facial. The vampire facial is a popular skin treatment due to its natural approach to skin rejuvenation and its popularity with celebrities like Kim Kardashian.
