Hyperhidrosis

Sweating is a normal function of the body, in which the body produces this swear to cool itself.

Hyperhidrosis is a very common condition that affects many Australians. It is characterized by excessive sweating primarily affecting the underarms and hands and feet. Sweating is a normal function of the body, in which the body produces this swear to cool itself. For some people however the body needs to produce more sweat that what is needed for it’s cooling.  Hyperhidrosis can be an embarrassing problem for sufferers that can impact self-esteem, clothing choices and social activities.

A few common things can cause people to get a bit sweaty these are:

  • Being hot (this is controlled by hypothalamus)
  • Emotional triggers
  • Food – spicy/hot good

Normal /medical grade deodorants simply do not provide much in terms of relief and medical grade deodorants/medications can have undesired side effects. Injectable muscle relaxants are much better tolerated and work via reducing the sweat gland stimulation.  Injectable treatments for hyperhidrosis stop the nerve single that’s signals the start of sweating from reaching the sweat gland. It is a temporary method of reducing the production of sweat but it is effective non the less.  Treatments for hyperhidrosis are performed only by Dr. Reza, whom has expert knowledge in treating and managing conditions such as hyperhidrosis.  Results will generally take a week or so to become noticeable.

Post treatment it is advised that you avoid any massage treatments around the injection area, avoid applying any pressure due to the action dissipating the fluid injected thus making it less effective. Vigorous exercise is also discouraged following treatment.

Treatment:

Injectable treatments into the problem area.
